Browser Game Pick: Metagun (Markus Persson)

Created for the Ludum Dare 18 contest, Metagun is a platform shooter with an interesting concept. The theme of the competition was ‘Enemies As Weapons’, hence in this game your bazooka fires small men who then start trying to kill you.

There’s a method to the madness - the gunfire from these little men can be used to push and destroy blocks, and also kill other baddies. The idea is to fire the men into a useful place, then stand between them and the obstacle you want shooting. Dodge the incoming bullet fire and it will hit your target. Hey presto and all that.

Browser Game Pick: Take Aim (Adam Atomic)

Take Aim is a 2D arcade shooter prototype originally created by Adam Saltsman in mid-2008, but was abandoned and remained unknown to the public until now. Here you play as a sniper who has to take down all kidnappers in every level with just your rifle and the attached scope. Players have to keep the target in their sights and fire at the right moment, since every time your heart beats the rifle will move around just a tiny bit and interfere with your concentration.
